Mowbray makes 'no sale' claim

Tony Mowbray has warned any tempted clubs that they may come unstuck in their attempts to prise any West Brom players away from the Hawthorns.

The Baggies boss insists that should the Midlands outfit fail to pull off another famous 'Great Escape' and beat the drop, they are financially equipped to hold onto their star performers.

Albion are six points adrift of safety and travel to the capital on Saturday to face Tottenham knowing anything but a win may leave them staring Premier League relegation in the face.

If Championship football beckons next season, potential suitors will be sniffing around the likes of James Morrison, Chris Brunt and Scott Carson but Mowbray claims the club will not need to sell to keep the books in order.

He told Sky Sports News: "If clubs covet our players that suggests we are doing something right, we've got some good players, what I do know is we don't need to sell any of our players.

"This club is very, very well run financially - it's not going to be a question of having to sell anybody.

"But if anybody makes offers for our players then we'll look at them and decide how valuable a player is to our season next year, look at the potential money on offer see if we can utilise it better or worse or ultimately deciding to keep the players that people are asking about.

"The overriding thing and the thing that dominates it all is that we don't have to sell any players."

Mowbray also paid homage to Baggies chief Jeremy Peace, who has accrued vast sums with some shrewd business like the transfer of Curtis Davies to Aston Villa in 2008.

He added: "I think the good players who left, left the club because we wanted to sell them in the end.

"They let us know their feelings, I think great credit to the chairman, I think he got maximum value for a lot of players."
