Barcelona star Lionel Messi has questioned the uncertainty surrounding Carlos Tevez's future at Manchester United.
Tevez's frustration at an irregular role at Old Trafford has cast doubt over whether he will sign a new deal with the Premier League champions, as he nears the end of a two-year loan agreement.
Talks between United and the forward's advisers remain ongoing but it has been suggested in the media that Tevez could seek a move away from the Red Devils, with a number of sides mooted as potential suitors.
However, Messi, who will meet United in the UEFA Champions League final next Wednesday, believes manager Sir Alex Ferguson would be making a grave mistake should he allow his Argentine compatriot to leave this summer.
"I have no idea why Manchester are letting my countryman go while he is talented enough to be in every team in the world's starting line-up," Messi said in The Times.
Messi also reiterated his commitment to Barca after he was quoted as stating that he would speak to candidate for the Real Madrid presidency Florentino Perez.
He added: "As far as I am concerned I want to continue with Barca."
