Hangeland hopeful over deal

Fulham defender Brede Hangeland is hopeful he will agree a new deal to end speculation over his future.

The Norweigian international has been linked with a move away from Craven Cottage this summer with a host of top clubs credited with an interest in his services.

Fulham are keen to keep the 27-year-old and have opened talks over a new contract in a bid to ward off rival interest.

Hangeland, who was one of the best performers in this season's Premier League, insists he is happy at Fulham and is relishing the prospect of playing in Europe next term with Roy Hodgson's troops.

"There's been speculation but as far as I know there's no serious interest and I will repeat it again, I am really happy at Fulham," Hangeland told the club's offical website. "The prospect of playing here for another season with a European campaign is something I look forward to very much.

"Hopefully we can agree a new contract and then I'll stay here for a long time. It's been going in the right direction since the moment I came here. I hope we can agree on something soon."
