Eriksson looking for new role

Sven-Goran Eriksson and his backroom staff are hoping to get back into management as soon as possible.

The Swedish coach, along with his assistants Hasse Backe and Tord Grip, was relieved of his duties with the Mexico national team at the beginning of April.

Poor performances in 2010 World Cup qualifiers saw the axe fall on his time with the Central American state.

However, he has not let that setback deter him from seeking an immediate return to the dugout.

"We have a number of concrete offers that we have chosen not to rule out," Backe told Aftonbladet.

"We have decided to continue together as we have more to give.

"We have offers and propositions coming through agents, but we will take our time.

"Within a month or so the major leagues will be finished and in the summer clubs will decide what to do with their managers. So for now I cannot confirm any details."

Eriksson had worked with Manchester City prior to taking the reins with Mexico and Backe admits a return to the Premier League is a possibility.

"We will see what happens," he added.

"It doesn't have to be a new country or a new league. We will also consider both club and national teams."

Reports continue to suggest that Eriksson will one day take charge of the Swedish national side, but Backe insists that is not a job which is likely to be available any time soon.

"That is something which could lie ahead in time," he said.

"That job would not be opened until after the World Cup in South Africa next summer at the earliest."
