Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong has urged the club's owners to show faith in manager Mark Hughes.
Hughes has unprecedented transfer funds at his disposal following the club's summer takeover last summer by the Abu Dhabi United Group, with De Jong just one of his big-money buys.
An astonishing £100million bid for AC Milan ace Kaka was tabled in January transfer before the player elected to remain in Italy, but City's ambitions remain much higher than their current standing.
Holland international De Jong has been impressed by Eastlands boss Hughes since his arrival from Hamburg during the winter transfer window.
And he insists everyone connected with the club should not expect instant success despite their financial muscle.
De Jong said: "I have found Mark Hughes a good manager to work with, but he must be given time.
"Everyone is expecting a lot from the new owners but there just has to be patience and that includes with the trainer."
