Chelsea 3 - 1 Fulham

Chelsea emerged 3-1 winners from a pulsating West London derby with Fulham at Stamford Bridge.

A goal from Nicolas Anelka within 50 seconds got the scoring underway before Erik Nevland equalised, only to see Florent Malouda restore the lead and Didier Drogba complete the scoring early in the second half.

Compared to their defensive set-up in midweek, Chelsea were a distinctly different prospect against their London neighbours, putting together a display full of delightful flowing moves, while Fulham themselves brightened the occasion with some fine one-touch football of their own.

For Chelsea, the win will serve to exert further pressure on Liverpool in the race for second place, although it remains to be seen whether fielding an almost full-strength team was wise with the UEFA Champions League tie with Barcelona on the horizon.

Fulham meanwhile will be forced to reassess their chances of securing Europa League football for next season, and will require a swift recovery if they are to keep up the challenge.
