West Bromwich Albion have suspended Roman Bednar following newspaper allegations that he bought drugs.
A report in the News of the World on Sunday claimed the Czech Republic striker bought drugs following last weekend's win over Wigan Athletic.
The allegations have now prompted the Baggies to suspend Bednar while the club launch an internal investigation into the claims.
Bednar has not featued in West Brom's previous five matches, but has been an unused substitute for the last two fixtures.
He joined the Premier League strugglers from Hearts in 2007, initially on loan, before securing a permanent deal last summer.
The 26-year-old has scored 23 goals in 65 appearances in all competitions for the Baggies, and has netted six times in the top flight this season.
Ahead of West Brom's crunch clash at home to Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, the club confirmed Bednar had been suspended.
A statement read: "Roman Bednar has been suspended while the club conduct an internal investigation into the matter."
