Aston Villa ace Ashley Young paid tribute to his team-mates after being named PFA Young Player of the Year.

Young beat his Villa team-mate Gabriel Agbonlahor, Manchester United duo Jonny Evans and Rafael da Silva, Aaron Lennon of Spurs and Manchester City's Stephen Ireland to the award.

The 23-year-old was delighted to be honoured by his fellow peers and he thanked his Villa team-mates for helping him develop as a player.

"To break into the England squad, to play as well as I have done and at the end of the day to get this award shows I have been doing really well, but if I didn't have my team-mates round me to help me as well I wouldn't be standing here now," Young told Sky Sports after picking up the award.

The former Watford star, who was also named in the Premier League Team of the Year, has set his sights on winning his place back in the England squad and establishing himself as a regular in Fabio Capello's plans.

"I have always got ambitons and set myself targets," added Young.

"I always want to add more caps to the England ones I have got so far and fingers crossed I get myself back in the squad."
