Alan Shearer does not care how Newcastle United get the points they need for survival providing they retain their top-flight status.
The Magpies are in serious danger of being relegated to the Championship as they currently sit two points from safety with just six games remaining ahead of this weekend's trip to Tottenham.
Despite the resources at Newcastle's disposal, a season of turmoil on and off the pitch has left their Premier League status firmly in the balance.
Shearer's troops ground out what could be a priceless point in their battle against the drop against Stoke last time out and the Toon boss is not looking for too much style from his squad from here on in.
"Points are the most important thing," said Shearer. "I believe in trying to play the game the right way, if there is a right way. But I don't really care, to be honest.
"As long as we get more points than the other three at the bottom between now and the end of the season, I don't care how they come."
Newcastle are looking to Michael Owen to help guide the club away from the drop zone, although the former Real Madrid and Liverpool striker's form has been below-par since his return from injury.
Owen has not scored in his last four outings for the North East outfit, but Shearer thinks he just needs a goal to kick-start his form and is backing the 29-year-old to break his duck sooner rather than later.
"Right now, Michael needs a goal, like all strikers do, but one thing we know is that he won't shy away from trying to get them," he continued.
"We would rather have Michael in our team than somebody else's, put it that way.
"I wouldn't bet against him having a big day in the last six games."
