Newcastle manager Alan Shearer has refused to get downbeat about the club's Premier League position.
Shearer believes his team can still escape the drop, although they are rapidly running out of games in which to pick up points.
Newcastle currently sit 18th, occupying the final relegation place, but have their sights on Hull City who are three points ahead of them.
The Magpies face a daunting trip to Liverpool before two home matches that could make or break their season. Fulham are the first visitors before Middlesbrough come to St. James' Park in a match that will have more then bragging rights at stake. Newcastle then make the trip to Villa Park to play Aston Villa on the final day of the season.
"We can't get our heads down," Shearer told the official Newcastle website.
"There's still a lot of work to be done and we're still in there fighting."
Newcastle visit Anfield this weekend but the Toon's all-time leading goalscorer is looking to upset the odds.
"Obviously we go there as underdogs but we must believe we can get something."
Shearer believes that the players will continue to battle on right until relegation is either confirmed or no longer a possibility.
"There'll certainly be no despondency and no-one will be giving up the fight. We will go to Anfield in good spirits and see what we can get.
