Tony Pulis insists Stoke are not yet safe, despite their 1-0 win at home to Blackburn.
Pulis was delighted with the effort his entire team made, but he insists there is still more to be done to ensure Premier League survival.
Stoke are now on 39 points, eight clear of the relegation zone with five games remaining, but Pulis says this does not guarantee they will be playing top-flight football in 2010.
He said: "I think you have to get over and into the 40s before you can really look at it and say 'we'll be safe'.
"But with five games to go, I think it is a fantastic achievement so far. What the players have done has been absolutely brilliant, but we have got to make sure that we keep our feet on the ground and keep working.
"It was a very difficult game today. I thought Blackburn really came here and gave it a right go and I don't think Sam [Allardyce] can complain about the effort and commitment his players put in.
"It was always going to be a tight game and there wasn't very many chances, but luckily for us we got the winning goal and the three points."
