West Brom boss Tony Mowbray has admitted he could be forced to sell up to seven players as he plans a summer overhaul of his squad.
The Baggies are battling to preserve their Premier League status but have a seven-point deficit to overturn in the final six games of the season.
Mowbray knows he will have to make wholesale changes should the club be in the Championship next season but any funds for new signings will have to be generated by selling some of his existing players.
He said: "If we're going down, we need to revamp. We need to make money to bring players in and the only way we're going to do that is by selling players.
"I won't have any money to spend. That's the way the club is run.
"They have a three-year plan and know if we never win another game or never have another cup run, then we will never be in financial trouble or be in debt.
"I may need to sell four, five, six, seven to generate money to bring one better player or a few other players."
Captain Jonathan Greening has already moved to pledge his future to the club even if they are relegated, and Mowbray insists he will only part company with players he no longer wants.
He added: "Yes, we need to generate money and I know we've got saleable assets, but the ones we sell will be the ones we want to sell.
"I would suggest that anybody who leaves our club will do so because we want him to leave and I will tell people if that's not the case."
