Home boy Rio staying put

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has hinted that he plans to finish his career at Old Trafford after ruling out a move abroad.

The 30-year-old England international, who regularly attracts interest from the continent's biggest clubs, has revealed he would find it difficult to uproot his young family from Manchester.

"The idea of playing in Italy is nice but I've got a young family and I wouldn't want to uproot them and move there. Moving out of London to Manchester was hard enough," Ferdinand told The Daily Mail.

Ferdinand comes from a family with a history of professional footballers and hopes that his kids can follow in the family tradition.

Ferdinand's younger brother Anton is also a Premier League defender with Sunderland and his cousin Les is the fifth top goalscorer in Premier League history.

"It's my dream for my sons to become footballers. I try not to push them too hard but I've got Lorenz training every day in the morning and afternoons," said Ferdinand.

"I see more kids in my future, hopefully more boys. I've got four sisters so there's enough girls in my family!"
