Hull City are set to pursue their spitting allegation against Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas.
The Tigers have yet to lodge an official complaint to the Football Association regarding the incident and missed Wednesday's initial deadline, but have been granted an extension until next Monday in which to make their case.
Fabregas is reported to have spat at Tigers assistant boss Brian Horton following Arsenal's FA Cup quarter-final victory at Emirates Stadium.
The Spaniard has strongly denied the allegations, but Hull are keen to push on with their claim.
Chairman Paul Duffen is refusing to let the issue lie and insists only playing commitments and players being away on international duty has delayed the lodging of a complaint.
The issue has taken some of the focus away from Hull City's battle against the drop this term, with Phil Brown's men still uncertain as to whether they will be playing Premier League football next season.
However, heading into the final eight games of the campaign, their cause has received a welcome boost with the news that George Boateng is closing in on full fitness.
The Dutchman has missed the last 10 games with knee ligament damage, but is in line to make a first-team return against former club Middlesbrough on 11th April.
"George will hopefully be coming back to the camp ready to get a full week under his belt on Monday," Brown told the Hull Daily Mail.
"It'll probably not be in time for the Portsmouth game but fingers crossed it will be in time for the Middlesbrough game.
"George comes back at the right time, given his experience. Ten years in the Premier League speaks for itself and he provides that type of experience that we need at the moment.
"That's not detracting from anyone's performances but we're still on learning curve and players like George can help us address it."
