Arnold Mvuemba has admitted that he cannot understand why he is not a regular in the Portsmouth side.
The Frenchman moved to Fratton Park on loan from Rennes in January 2007 before making the switch permanent in the summer.
He does not feel Pompey are as strong now as they were when he first joined the club and is disappointed with his lack of involvement under caretaker manager Paul Hart.
"Since my arrival I have improved with players like Lassana Diarra or Sulley Muntari," Mvuemba told Le 10 Sport.
"Now they have left, the players who have replaced them are not better than me. That is the most painful (thing).
"It is not their fault. The coach makes his decision, but I can't understand."
Hart and his assistant Brian Kidd will stay in charge of Pompey until the end of the season after Tony Adams was sacked in early February.
Adams had only replaced Harry Redknapp at the helm in October and Mvuemba has expressed some forthright views about the managers he has worked with at Pompey.
He said: "We don't talk a lot with Paul Hart. I have better relationship with his assistant Brian Kidd.
"Tactically you can feel he has been 10 years at Manchester United with Ferguson. He is a great man, a little like Tony Adams.
"The problem is you could have been a great player and an average coach. It is the case with Adams. We won two matches out of 15 with him.
"Harry Redknapp? He has experience. He knows how to talk to a group. But as an individual, he manipulates you.
"I learnt more at Rennes with Laszlo Boloni than with him. Kindness is not enough."
