Miller targets swift recovery

West Brom striker Ishmael Miller is confident he will be fit for the start of pre-season training.

Miller suffered a serious knee injury during the 1-1 draw with Portsmouth in early December and was quickly ruled out for the rest of the season.

He is delighted with the progress he is making in his recovery but does not want to take any risks.

"I'm doing well and flying at the minute, but I've got to keep telling myself I can't rush back too quickly," the 22-year-old told the club's official website.

"I'm taking it steady but I am on schedule to get back quicker than some players.

"I reckon I'm about three months away from doing light training.

"I'll definitely be fit for the start of pre-season and it will be like a fresh start.

"Hopefully I'll come back even stronger than before."

Miller had just started to find some form when he picked up the cruciate ligament problem but he believes his team-mates can avoid relegation.

The Baggies are currently bottom of the table and six points from safety but Miller expects manager Tony Mowbray to keep them up.

He said: "We've all got to pull together and I feel we'll be OK if everyone puts 110 per cent in.

"I've had quite a lot of banter with Mozza (Mowbray) about making sure the players keep me in the Premier League and hopefully that will happen."
