Bolton striker Kevin Davies has echoed the sentiments of manager Gary Megson in blaming bad defending for Wednesday's defeat to relegation rivals Stoke.
The Trotters slumped 2-0 at the Britannia Stadium as James Beattie and Ricardo Fuller scored, which saw Megson describe his defence as 'sloppy'.
Davies has now backed the thoughts of his boss and confesses that Bolton should have been prepared for a predictable, aerial bombardment against the Potters, who now sit only four points behind their 11th-placed midweek visitors.
"The manager didn't need to warn us about anything," he told the Bolton News.
"We know all about Stoke. They get their fans into it, put a lot of balls into the box, and we knew they would make it hard for us - fair play.
"It was a game of few chances. We slipped up for the first goal, we didn't clear the ball properly and the header should never have got through, and then failed to defend the long throw for the second one.
"We had a few chances at the end but we had let the game get away from us at 2-0. It was a disappointing display and a disappointing result."
