Middlesbrough star Afonso Alves has admitted he would jump at the chance to join Benfica.
The Portuguese giants have expressed an interest in landing Alves - Boro's record signing - as revealed by skysports.com earlier this week.
Alves arrived on Teesside just over 12 months ago, but he has not made the impact expected with just 10 league goals so far in his time with the club.
He has been in-and-out of the side under Gareth Southgate, who looks set to have the option of selling Alves in the summer with Benfica ready to take him.
Alves has now confirmed he would be willing to make the move.
"Benfica is a great club," he told the Record.
"It's a kind of club that any player would want to play for."
Benfica are believed to have been sounded out by Alves's agents and coach Quique Flores is understood to have told the club's hierarchy that he would like the Brazilian at the Estadio da Luz.
Alves's agents have also approached Boro and kept them informed of events, and the two clubs appear keen to strike a deal - although a lot depends on how much the Premier League side would want for the player they paid over £12million for.
