Chelsea assistant boss Ray Wilkins admits the Blues were not at their best against Hull City on Saturday.
The Blues were held to a 0-0 draw by the Tigers at Stamford Bridge, adding to their troubles on home turf this season.
A lacklustre display provided little in terms of an attacking threat and they rarely troubled Phil Brown's side.
Wilkins concedes that Hull battled bravely throughout the contest, but believes Luiz Felipe Scolari's team need to raise their game if they are to remain in the Premier League title race.
"Extremely frustrated. The players are very frustrated, as is Felipe and everybody involved in the side," he told Sky Sports.
"It's been a tough afternoon for us. We worked extremely hard, but it hasn't come for us and it was very difficult for us from a defensive point of view.
"But give Hull credit, they came here and set their stall out to play football from the start. I think in the second half they retreated a little bit when they thought they had the chance to hang on for a point and in the end they richly deserved that point.
"We dominated the first half of the game and we were camped in the penalty box for long periods.
"We need that little bit of luck and that's not happening at the moment, but we have to keep plugging away and make sure we start turning it around on Saturday afternoon."
On a brighter note for the Blues, Wilkins revealed that Petr Cech is expected to be back in contention for next week's trip to Watford in the FA Cup fifth round.
However, Portugal international Ricardo Carvalho is expected to be sidelined once again for a game which club captain John Terry will miss through suspension.
"We're not sure on Ricky, but Petr should certainly be there next week," added Wilkins.
"We have got lots of players away on international duty, as has everybody else, this week and we just hope that come Thursday afternoon they all come back safe and sound."
