Trotters in bid for Davis

Bolton Wanderers have made a bid for Portsmouth midfielder Sean Davis.

Bolton boss Gary Megson is looking to increase his midfield options after selling captain Kevin Nolan to Newcastle United.

A big-money deal for Sporting Lisbon's Miguel Veloso has been called off, but Megson could have success in landing Davis.

Speaking after his side's 3-2 win over Tottenham on Saturday, Megson confirmed he had made offers for two unidentified players.

Megson is also hoping to bring in a further two players before Monday's transfer deadline and Davis appears to be a prime target.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and Pompey boss Tony Adams is hoping he will sign a new deal.

But Davis could now be offered a move to the Reebok Stadium in a deal which would further weaken Adams' squad at Fratton Park.

Davis has made just over 100 appearances during three years at Pompey and started Saturday's 3-1 defeat at former club Fulham.
