Terry seeks silver lining

John Terry is determined to ensure that Chelsea do not end the 2008/09 season empty-handed.

The Blues suffered that fate last term, coming up short in the Premier League title race and the UEFA Champions League.

The current campaign has offered little to suggest a reversal in fortune has been ushered in, with the top-flight crown once again fading into the distance.

European glory and the FA Cup remain potential avenues to success, with club captain Terry desperate to get his hands on some silverware.

"The challenge is massive," said the England skipper.

"We can't take our focus off it for one minute. We have to win something this season.

"We have to do everything we can to get ourselves back in the thick of the title race.

"We have to start winning and keep on winning. We have to win big games like Villa and Arsenal away and Watford (in the FA Cup) next week.

"What is important is that we all stick together and that's the supporters as well."

Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari is also desperate to land a trophy in his first season and Stamford Bridge and the Brazilian believes that the destiny of the title remains up in the air.

"We are prepared to fight and we are aware that there are many points still to play for and for the teams above us to drop - it is only February and the league ends in May," he said.

"We want to take our battle for the title right to the end of the season."
