Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted that it is up to Fabio Capello to decide whether to pick Wayne Rooney for the Spain friendly.
The Scot is set to name the 23-year-old on the bench for United's trip to West Ham on Sunday after missing the club's last five games.
The former Everton ace limped off after handing United an early lead in the 1-0 win over Wigan last month with a hamstring injury and hasn't played since.
The good news for Capello is that Ferguson admitted he had no issues if the Italian decided to recall the striker for Wednesday's friendly against the Euro 2008 winners.
However the 67-year-old boss did reveal that he would have liked Rooney to have undergone some more rigorous training ahead of the Hammers clash.
Due to the adverse weather conditions this week, the United squad have participated in a number of lighter sessions explaining why the England ace can only expect a place on the bench.
"I have not spoken to Fabio but I hope to do so in order to explain the situation," Ferguson said.
"He can then decide after dialogue with the physios whether it is worth taking Wayne to Seville.
"I have no strong issue with that. It is a question of whether he would play or be a substitute, which is the same position as I am in.
"It is up to Fabio. I really have no strong objection to that."
