Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri has admitted he would like to return to English management one day.
Ranieri spent four years in charge of Chelsea from 2000 to 2004 but left the club before they enjoyed a hugely successful period under Jose Mourinho.
He believes he laid the foundations for Mourinho to build on, having signed a number of key players including Frank Lampard, Damien Duff, Joe Cole and Claude Makelele.
"I didn't win anything but the crowd knew very well that I built a good team," he said.
"(Did I get enough) credit? No. I wanted to finish my job but it was impossible.
"Whoever arrived after me could win because I bought a lot of strong players."
Ranieri added: "I was very proud that John Terry, Frank Lampard, all the other of my players won something."
The experienced Italian concedes that he would relish the chance to work in the Premier League again at some point in the future.
"Never say never. Now I want to finish here, but one day I would like to come back to England," he said.
"I like the atmosphere in England and the mentality of the supporters. Why not?"
Juventus face Chelsea on Wednesday in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League tie and Ranieri believes his men are in good shape after beating Palermo 2-0 on Saturday.
"We are ready for Chelsea," he added in the Italian press. "I must say now they play a little more quickly in comparison to a few weeks ago.
"(Nicolas) Anelka and (Didier) Drogba are a formidable couple, but we are ready."
