Pulis laments loss of focus

Share Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has voiced his frustration after his side conceded a stoppage-time equaliser against Portsmouth.

The Potters led 2-1 heading into the final minutes of the game when Ryan Shawcross deflected Herman Hreidarsson's shot into his own net.

Pulis was disappointed to see the advantage slip away after coming from a goal behind to lead.

"It was two points dropped. When you go into injury-time leading 2-1 you are hoping to win the game but we've switched off and they've caught us," he said.

"I didn't think it was that great a game and it could have gone either way - and when they scored with 15 minutes to go I thought it would be difficult for us.

"But we came back with the two goals and were looking to see it out."

The match hinged on referee Mike Jones' decision to award Stoke a penalty immediately after Pompey had taken the lead.

Even though Glen Johnson appeared to control the ball with his upper chest and shoulder, a penalty was given for handball.

But Pulis claimed not to have seen the incident, but believed his team were due a lucky break.

"People tell me it has hit his shoulder and not his arm but if we've got some luck fine, it's about time we did," he added.
