Pericard suffers injury blow

Millwall's on-loan striker Vincent Pericard has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering an injury on his second appearance for the club.

Pericard was stretchered off during the second half of the Lions' 3-1 win at Cheltenham Town on Tuesday night and is understood to have ruptured his Achilles tendon.

The 26-year-old will now return to parent club Stoke City, with Millwall boss Kenny Jackett offering his sympathy to Pericard.

"He'll be out for the rest of the season and will go back to his club," said Jackett.

"It's so heartbreaking for the lad."

The former Portsmouth forward only joined the Lions last week and made his debut in the 1-0 home defeat by Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend.

He had made eight appearances for Stoke this season, with his only goal coming in a Carling Cup tie against Reading back in September.
