N'Zogbia unfazed by pressure

Charles N'Zogbia does not believe he is under extra pressure to perform at Wigan after joining the club for a hefty transfer fee.

The 22-year-old finalised a move to the JJB Stadium on deadline day, with Ryan Taylor moving in the opposite direction as part of the deal.

Newcastle also received a cash sum for N'Zogbia, reported to be around £6million, and the Frenchman is set to make his Latics debut against Fulham on Saturday.

N'Zogbia is keen to make an impact for his new club and is not concerned about expectations being high.

"The record fee is not a problem - there's no pressure," he told the Wigan Evening Post.

"I just wanted to move from Newcastle and now I'm here to play football.

"I'm not focused on the price, I just want to enjoy playing."

Wigan are currently seventh in the Premier League table after holding Aston Villa to a goalless draw on Saturday and N'Zogbia wants to become a permanent fixture in the side.

He said: "These are exciting times. I watched the game against Aston Villa on Saturday and was impressed.

"I want to make my mark this season by hopefully playing all the games that are left.

"It seems a really friendly club so I don't think it will be a problem settling in.

"Now I need to learn how the team works and how they play.

"I know Titus Bramble and Antoine Sibierski from Newcastle - Titus helped me settle in when I first went to Newcastle."
