Newcastle winger Charles N'Zogbia expects to be a Wigan player by the end of the weekend.
N'Zogbia has made his wish to leave St James' Park well known during the transfer window with the likes of Aston Villa, Arsenal and Lyon linked with the left-winger, who said he would never play under Toon boss Joe Kinnear again.
And in the latest twist, the 24-year-old could be heading to the JJB after the Latics agreed a fee believed to be £6million for the talented Frenchman.
Wigan midfielder Ryan Taylor has also been touted as a makeweight in the deal, as Steve Bruce looks to make another addition in what has been a busy transfer window for the North West outfit.
It has been understood that both teams are trying to rush the moves through and N'Zogbia anticipates his switch will be done by the weekend.
"It is not definitely sorted out, but it should be on Saturday, when my agent will arrive in England," French told L'Equipe.
"It has been complex, notably in the end, but finally I am released."
