David Moyes felt Everton were unlucky to have a penalty awarded against them in the 1-0 defeat at Manchester United.
The only goal at Old Trafford arrived just before half-time when Cristiano Ronaldo converted from the spot after Michael Carrick had been tripped by Mikel Arteta.
Carrick also had another penalty claim early in the second half after a collision with Joleon Lescott, who wanted a late spot-kick for Everton after a tussle with Rio Ferdinand.
Toffees boss Moyes did not feel any of the three incidents merited a penalty from Mark Halsey and rued the referee's decision to penalise Arteta.
Moyes praised keeper Tim Howard's performance in the first half, but was left to reflect on the penalty decision which went against his team.
"They stuck at it. In the first half we needed our goalkeeper to be inspirational to keep us in it," said Moyes.
"We were playing against a good team and you need a bit of luck and I think it might have gone against us in the penalty decision.
"I can sometimes see them given but thought it was quite light. I didn't think between the three of them (Carrick's and Lescott's) there was a penalty in it.
"I didn't think any of them merited any decisions but I thought the referee had a good game and have no qualms with him."
