Harry glad window is closed

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is delighted the transfer window has closed - and hopes he is not as busy next year.

The top flight strugglers were one of the busiest clubs in the window, bringing in Wilson Palacios from Wigan, Chelsea goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini and old boys Pascal Chimbonda, Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane.

Redknapp admitted the club had to strengthen, but now believes Spurs have a squad which can climb away from the relegation zone.

He said: "I am delighted it is all finished. I hope to God that this time next season, I do not have to bring anybody in during the transfer window, there is nothing I would like better.

"This year, because of our situation, we needed to strengthen the squad, and that is what we did.

"The chairman has been terrific and been so supportive.

"I did not think we would get Robbie Keane, I thought there was no way Liverpool were going to sell him, but the chairman has worked on that and done well to get him in.

"Now I feel we have got a squad which can push on."

He added the top clubs did not need to spend much in the window and he hopes to be in a similar position next term.

"I would like to have been in the position where we did not have to do anything," he said.

"If I had a team sitting seventh in the league, you might have looked to only bring in one player.

"But the position we are in, we had to do something."

He believed the deal Spurs struck for Keane was worth every penny.

"I think we got Robbie cheap, for around £12million and they sold him for £20m, so it was a good deal," he said.

"We have got four good strikers now, which is the key, and I do not see playing Robbie and JD [Defoe] together will be a problem."
