Distin - We need to wake up

Portsmouth centre-back Sylvain Distin has admitted the club are likely to suffer relegation if they continue to play at their current level.

Pompey find themselves 16th in the Premier League table, just a point above the drop zone and without a win in eight attempts.

Experienced defender Distin concedes he is concerned at their form and has rallied Tony Adams' troops ahead of their home clash against Liverpool on Saturday.

He told The News: "It's a tough end of the season for us, but if we play like we are at the moment any team is going to be tough.

"There's disappointment there. We did so well last season and now everything is the opposite.

"It's not enjoyable. I don't know why I shouldn't say this. They are the facts. I'm not pessimistic. I'm just saying how I feel.

"There's disappointment and frustration. It's going to be a very difficult end to the season.

"The players have to see what is happening as a sign to wake up. Everyone is down at the moment.

"Some games we have done well and not got the result. But we can't say that about the Fulham game.

"We have enough to stay up, but we have to do more."
