Davis - Stick with current duo

Portsmouth midfielder Sean Davis has added his voice to calls for caretaker management pair Paul Hart and Brian Kidd to keep their jobs on a permanent basis.

The duo have been in charge at Fratton Park since Tony Adams' dismissal and have overseen a turnaround in the strugglers' fortunes, which has seen them claim four points from their last two games to pull away from the drop zone.

Davis would like to know sooner rather than later who the next management team at the club will be and believes the current bosses are well qualified to stay at the helm.

He told The News: "It would be nice to know who the new manager will be.

"The people in at the moment are football men.

"They know the game inside out. It's an honour to work with somebody like Brian Kidd with the clubs he's been at. He was obviously at Manchester United for a long time.

"And I've always got on with Paul since he's been at the club. I'm enjoying it with him as well."

Davis's current contract is due to expire at the end of the season and he would like to renew his deal to stay at the club, where he is a firm favourite with the fans.

He added: "I'm not one of these players that likes to jump ship all the time.

"I've made a lot of friends here. The fans have always been fantastic to me.

"If you are trying 100 per cent they are right behind you."
