Phil Brown says his relationship with Sam Allardyce goes out of the window during Hull City's clash against Blackburn at the KC Stadium.
Former Bolton Wanderers assistant manager Brown worked with Allardyce for six years during their time at the Reebok.
Bolton enjoyed good times while the pair were at the club, although this weekend sees the duo go head-to-head in East Yorkshire.
Brown admits he learned a lot about management under Allardyce, but says there will be no room for sentiment on Sunday.
"I have said all along I didn't work for Sam, I worked with Sam," said Brown. "I learned an awful lot from him, no doubt about it.
"I dare say Sam will have success at Blackburn. I have no doubt in my mind he is the right man for the job, to keep Blackburn in the Premier League.
"I hope in his mind I'm the right man for this job, to keep Hull City in the Premier League, but there will be no friendship for 90 minutes on Sunday."
Both Hull City and Rovers are desperate for the points this weekend and Brown is expecting a full-blooded affair at the KC.
"I'm looking forward to the game, it will be a great spectacle between two teams who are committed to winning," he continued.
"We'll both be going for the jugular for 90 minutes. I can't see any team pulling out of tackles, challenges or headers.
"I think there will be a little claret spilled because there will be that much commitment on show.
"But that is a typical Hull City performance and if Blackburn can match that, then we are in for a good game."
