Boro make Turnbull offer

Middlesbrough have offered a new contract to goalkeeper Ross Turnbull.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a successful season after he emerged as No.1 following Mark Schwarzer's departure for Fulham.

Turnbull, though, is out of contract in the summer and could leave The Riverside on a free transfer.

Turnbull was also dropped on Saturday as Brad Jones was preferred ahead of the draw against Blackburn.

Speaking after the match Southgate confirmed the club had made an offer.

"Ross has been terrific for us. I think we've made a very good offer and it's up to him," said Southgate.

"If he wants to sign it, brilliant, if he doesn't, that's his prerogative."
