Ashley Young says he is 'delighted' to be playing for Aston Villa and is confident the club are moving in the right direction.
The winger signed a new four-year contract with Villa earlier this season, but has subsequently been linked with Real Madrid.
Villa boss Martin O'Neill recently admitted he would not be surprised if Real were interested, but confirmed there had been no enquiry from the Spanish champions.
But Young has suggested that, even if there was an offer from another club, he would not consider accepting a move as he is enjoying playing regular football at Villa.
"The other two boys had signed, John Carew and Gabby Agbonlahor," Young told the Daily Mail when asked why he committed his future to Villa.
"You can just tell that the club is evolving and moving in the right direction.
"I'm playing week in, week out. I might not get that elsewhere. The fact is I'm just delighted that I'm here. The manager and chairman have said that the club will kick on. And I believe it will.
"The gaffer came to me and asked me about a new deal, but he didn't have to do that. I had two years left. They didn't need to come to me.
"And he is one of the top managers in the Premier League, if not the world. He was one of the main reasons I joined the club. I want to repay him."
