John Carew and Wilfred Bouma are continuing to work their way towards full fitness with Aston Villa.
Defender Bouma has been on the sidelines since July after dislocating his ankle in the Intertoto Cup clash with Odense.
Striker Carew has not featured since the end of November with a niggling back problem.
Villa boss Martin O'Neill was delighted to see the pair on the road to recovery.
"They are training with the first team and have done a bit extra too, it is very encouraging," said O'Neill.
"John is still short of real, complete match fitness but at least he is training and there has been no reaction so far.
"Freddie has been out for a fairly lengthy time now and is still feeling pretty stiff."
