Royals - No offers for Hunt

Stephen Hunt has expressed his desire to play in the Premier League but Reading are hopeful of keeping him.

The Republic of Ireland international has been linked with a move away from the Madejski Stadium during the transfer window, with Everton and Middlesbrough both understood to be interested.

Reports have also suggested that Tottenham may look to bring in the winger if they fail to land Stewart Downing.

However, Reading director of football Nicky Hammond claims there have been no firm bids for 27-year-old as yet.

Hunt has been a key performer for the Royals this season and Hammond is confident he will stay with the club.

"Hunty's situation is well publicised," Hammond said in the Sunday Mirror.

"There have been no offers and we certainly don't want to lose him. I am hopeful we can keep everyone."

Reading are currently second in the Championship table but Hunt admits it has been difficult to adjust to life back in the second tier of English football.

He misses the Premier League and accepts that an opportunity to return to the top flight would be hard to resist.

"I've not been a nice person to live with the last six months. I want to play at the highest level," Hunt said in the News of the World.

"In the Premier League you play once a week and everyone comes to watch you - but the Championship is three matches a week and grinding out points."
