Richardson fit to face Magpies

Sunderland are set to welcome back Kieran Richardson for Sunday's Tyne-Wear derby with Newcastle.

Richardson, who scored the winner in the reverse fixture at the Stadium of Light earlier this season, has missed the last three games with an ankle injury.

However, the former Manchester United man is now back to full fitness and Black Cats boss Ricky Sbragia admits he could go straight back into the side for the clash at St James' Park.

"Kieran is okay," Sbragia told the club's official website. "He could have possibly played against Fulham but we wanted to give him a few more days training. He's training with the rest of the first-team now."

One player who will miss Sunday's clash is defender Paul McShane after he suffered a hamstring strain in Tuesday's win over Fulham.

"It was typical Paul McShane that though he'd hurt himself within a minute of coming on, he didn't look to come off. He stayed on and saw it through. That's what he's all about," added Sbragia

"He gives it 100 per cent. But the outcome is that the hamstring is a problem - it's a tweak rather than a tear - but he still looks like missing a week, probably two with it."

Meanwhile, Danish duo Aalborg and FC Mitjylland are reported to be battling it out for the signing of forgotten Sunderland striker Rade Prica.

Prica has been out of favour at the Stadium of Light after a frustrating 12 months on Wearside and Sunderland are thought to be keen on letting him leave.

Aalborg and FC Mitjylland are both ready to table bids for the Sweden international as they look to sign him up before the close of the transfer window.
