Reina predicts more from Reds

Liverpool have yet to reach their peak, according to their goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

The Reds shot-stopper was rested for last Saturday's FA Cup win over Preston, but the Spanish ace is certain to be brought back into the fray for the visit to Stoke in the league.

Bar the Carling Cup exit to Tottenham, Liverpool have impressed on all fronts this season and remain on course to challenge for domestic and European honours.

Despite sitting top of the Premier League summit, reaching the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League and making the fourth round of the FA Cup Reina reckons his team have still to hit top form.

"This team has character and a belief in what we can achieve," Reina said.

"But although we have been playing okay so far, we can get better.

"Our ambition this season is to challenge for every singe competition that we enter. At Liverpool this is the only way.

"We have got ourselves into a good position, but there is still a lot of football to play."

With several mouth-watering ties lying in wait for the Reds - including the fourth-round derby against Everton and the Euro double-header with Real Madrid - it would be easy for the Liverpool squad to lose focus.

But Reina insists his manager's meticulous mentality has rubbed off on the players and he believes his side's all-round defensive work has been crucial to the success thus far.

"We are taking little steps in the right direction all the time," Reina added.

"One of our strengths is how well we defend as a team, from the front players all the way back to the defenders. It makes life easier for me if I do not have to be involved in the game too often.

"We will always score goals with Keane, Torres, Kuyt, Gerrard and the rest of the lads.

"We are still looking for the perfect blend, and if we do that we will be able to compete in everything until the end of the season."
