Pennant confirms Real interest

Jermaine Pennant says he cannot imagine playing for another Premier League club after confirming Real Madrid made an offer.

Liverpool winger Pennant is out of contract at the end of the season and had been linked with a £3million move to Real.

Reports have claimed that the 25-year-old rejected a switch to the Bernabeu and that the Spanish champions have subsequently moved on to other targets.

However, Pennant has suggested that a possible deal is not dead and buried, and is flattered to be wanted by Juande Ramos' side.

"I know real Madrid made an offer for me," Pennant told guillembalague.com.

"Real Madrid is a great club, so is Liverpool.

"I am not sure of the situation now; I am flattered that a club as huge as Real has shown interest in me, so we will have to see."

In addition to Real, several clubs are rumoured to want to keep Pennant in the Premier League, with Stoke, Tottenham and Wigan all linked with bids.

But the former Arsenal youngster admits that, after two-and-a-half years at Anfield, he does not envisage joining another English club.

He added: "I haven't spoken to anybody all these weeks because I wanted to focus on my game, on training hard to convince the manager he can count on me.

"I cannot imagine playing for another Premier League team after Liverpool."
