David Moyes has challenged full-back Leighton Baines to maintain his good form to keep his place in the Everton side.
Baines has featured in the Toffees' last four outings due to fellow defender Joseph Yobo's hamstring problem.
Moyes has been pleased with Baines' form, especially as Everton have not conceded in any of those four matches, but points out competition for places at the club is fierce.
"Bainesy has done well in the games he has played," he told the Liverpool Echo.
"He's doing fine. There is a good player there and we know that. But the competition is stiff.
"That's what happens when you come to big clubs - the competition will always be tough.
"We have that at the back with Joleon (Lescott), Jags (Phil Jagielka) and Joe. It's tough competition."
