West Brom boss Tony Mowbray was pleased to have claimed victory over Middlesbrough.
The Baggies boss admits his side were fortunate in their 3-0 win at The Hawthorns.
But Mowbray was delighted how new signing Marc-Antoine Fortune linked up with Jay Simpson in attack.
"Any win in the Premier League is a big win, it brings everyone closer to us and that is three wins on the bounce at home and we have to keep that sort of form going," he told Sky Sports.
"I think quality strikers make the difference in football matches, we feel as if we control matches and I want to finish them off, and the introduction of Fortune with Simpson has set up a platform for us.
"We are the lowest scorers in the league and needed to do something and gamble.
"We have loaned them both and it is really trying to give us options trying to get the right chemistry, we feel as if we compete - yet we have had little cutting edge and that reflects on points accrued."
Mowbray acknowledges his side had some luck against Boro.
"It was a strange game as Middlesbrough, particularly first half, gave us lots of problems yet we scored a goal and were really hanging on and we were delighted to get them in at half-time leading 1-0 and get things sorted," he said.
The Baggies boss admits wins against teams from the lower half of the table are crucial.
"We have always said that we have to try and win these games and there is enough fixtures in the second half of the season with teams in and around us, that we are positive and try and get three points," he said.
Manchester United are next up for West Brom and Mowbray is relishing the prospect of facing Sir Alex Ferguson's side.
"Man United will come here on the back of a lot of games," he said.
"All things being equal it is hard - but we shouldn't fear the game and we will be positive and try and take them on."
Mowbray remains a Boro legend form his time with the club and he had time to speak about his opposite number Gareth Southgate.
"He probably feels as if they deserve more from the game," he said.
"Especially in the first half when they are unlucky to be 1-0 down.
"I am sure if they stick together they will be fine."
