Moore relishing Villa return

Luke Moore has promised not to 'rub it in anyone's face' if he scores on his return to Aston Villa.

The 22-year-old wants to put a temporary dent into Aston Villa's UEFA Champions League hopes on his first return to the club he has supported since a young boy.

Moore insists his pleasure at seeing Villa make progress under Martin O'Neill will be put on hold on Saturday as he strives to help the Baggies in their bid to stay in the Premier League.

The former England Under 21 international moved from Villa Park to The Hawthorns 12 months ago on loan, before completing a £3.5million switch in the summer.

Moore has had to endure a frustrating time and a lack of first-team opportunities until recently but scored his first goal for the Baggies in the recent win over Manchester City.

He said: "Any ex-player of any club looks forward to the first time they go back. I fully intend to enjoy the occasion but we have been on a good run and we are going to Villa Park to continue that.

"Everyone knows that I am deep-rooted into Villa. The foundations are set and any Villa fan will tell you it's pleasing to see the club pushing forward.

"Randy Lerner (Villa owner) is probably the best thing that has ever happened to the club and they have got a good manager there in Martin O'Neill.

"But I am at West Brom now and that is the most important thing. It's a big game and the local people know what it's all about. I'm local and I know what it's all about.

"We are in a fight in the same way Villa are at the other end of the table. We are fighting for our lives and we're going to go there and try to be positive and get a result.

"What will I do if I score? You never know if you are going to celebrate. I'll let you know. I would like to find out - by actually scoring first.

"But I won't be trying to rub it in anyone's faces. I know that. But I want to go there and win. It's as simple as that. Every time a player plays a game he wants to win, and it's no different for me."
