Wigan Athletic have won the race to land Crystal Palace midfielder Ben Watson.
Middlesbrough were the first side to have a bid for the 23-year-old accepted and news of their interest soon alerted a number of other Premier League clubs.
West Ham, Fulham and Blackburn were all linked with possible moves for Watson but it is Wigan who have stolen a march on their rivals.
Having spoken to both Latics boss Steve Bruce and his Boro counterpart Gareth Southgate, Watson has decided on a switch to The JJB.
Official confirmation of the deal is expected in the none too distant future.
