Everton defender Phil Jagielka has urged his team-mates to improve their recent derby record ahead of their two clashes with rivals Liverpool.
The Toffees have a disappointing record against their neighbours in recent years and have not tasted victory in the last four games between the two clubs.
In fact Everton have won just once in the last eight derby encounters with the latest defeat coming in September when a Fernando Torres double sunk David Moyes' men at Goodison Park.
The two sides meet on Monday in the Premier League at Anfield and then again on Sunday in the FA Cup fourth round with Liverpool again having home advantage.
Everton have not won at Anfield since September 1999 when a Kevin Campbell goal was enough to take the three points but now Jagielka insists he side must do themselves justice.
"Everyone who comes to this club wants to play in these kind of fixtures," the defender told the club's official website.
"The bigger and better the club you are at, the more important these games become.
"A local derby in the Premier League, followed six days later by an FA Cup clash, is something that has captured everyone's imagination and we are all looking forward to it.
"As soon as the numbers came out alongside one another, I just chuckled. All you can do is enjoy it and hopefully we can go over there and cause an upset.
"That's what it will be if we do win. We didn't do ourselves justice when we played them earlier in the season and we want to put that right.
"It's always tough at Anfield and they are flying high, but they will be two very interesting games and we are confident we can upset them."
