Mark Hughes believes it might take five more signings for Manchester City to turn around their inconsistent season.
The arrival of Robinho last summer from Real Madrid had been expected to see the Eastlands club challenge for European football next season.
However, the club's results have been mixed at best and Hughes has already moved quickly to bolster his side in January with the addition of Wayne Bridge.
City hit a new season low on Saturday after exiting the FA Cup at the hands of Nottingham Forest and under-fire Hughes says a lot more signings are required before the corner is turned.
"We need more players," he said. "We have brought Wayne Bridge to the club but maybe we need five more to complement the ones we have.
"Bringing players in during January is not easy but it is evident to everybody that number is probably the minimum we need.
"I recognise some of the players we would like to bring in are maybe unobtainable. But it is early yet and we will pursue targets we think will help us."
