Hughes - Kaka deal still on

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has said a deal for AC Milan playmaker Kaka could still go ahead.

The Brazilian's link with City has taken a number of dramatic twists since reports of an extravagant £100million bid emerged on Wednesday.

On Thursday, arabianbusiness.com claimed that the Abu Dhabi-owned club have ended their interest in 26-year-old and moved onto another target.

However, assistant boss Mark Bowen was then quoted as saying that a deal to land Kaka was 'very close'.

And now Hughes has revealed that the club could still secure the former Fifa World Player of the Year.

He said on Sky Sports News: "I've seen these reports but you have to bear in mind that the people who are being given a platform to speak do not represent the owner (Sheikh Mansour) or (chairman) Khaldoon (Al Mubarak).

"In my opinion they should not be given a platform to say what they have because in this instance it is completely untrue because negotiations are still taking place."

The Welshman added: "It would be naive to think I have not been involved in discussions over this transfer. I have had meetings about it and have had an input.

"It is impossible to say whether it will go through or not but we will let everyone know when there is something to say."
