Harry Redknapp has revealed he dreams of turning Tottenham Hotspur into a 'terrific team once again'.

The former Portsmouth boss replaced Juande Ramos at White Hart Lane in late October and has lifted morale in North London since his appointment.

He has guided Spurs out of the Premier League relegation zone and also through to a Carling Cup final against Manchester United.

Redknapp won his first major trophy as a manager when lifting the FA Cup with Portsmouth last season and it is an experience he wants to repeat at Tottenham.

When asked about the one thing he wants to achieve for Spurs, Redknapp told Hotspur magazine: "I'd love to win trophies and try to compete for a Champions League position.

"Basically, the dream is to make Tottenham a terrific team once again."

However, Redknapp acknowledged the difficulty in qualifying for the UEFA Champions League, with Spurs having twice come close in recent years.

He added: "It's very, very difficult because the 'big four' are so powerful.

"I think you'll now see Manchester City pushing on and challenging because of all the money they've got.

"Even breaking into that top four - Everton did it one year and Aston Villa are up there challenging this season but it's tough."

Redknapp may be edging towards the latter stages of his managerial career, but he admits his love of football is what keeps driving him on towards new challenges.

"It's difficult to know - I can't figure it out myself sometimes!" replied Redknapp when asked why he still has an appetite for the game.

"It's the love of the game. I keep taking on these big challenges and this is another, at a big club like Tottenham and with a big job to do."
