West Ham are lining up a move for Fiorentina striker Pablo Daniel Osvaldo as a possible replacement for Craig Bellamy.
Bellamy is on the verge of a move away from Upton Park after West Ham agreed a fee with Manchester City for the Welshman.
Zola is hopeful of being given funds to fill the void created by Bellamy's impending departure and he has earmarked a move for Osvaldo.
Fiorentina are believed to be open to offers for Osvaldo and the news has alerted West Ham to his availability.
West Ham are thought to be exploring the option of signing Osvaldo on loan with a view to a permanent deal if he impresses.
However, they could face competition for Osvaldo from Bologna who are keen to keep the former Italian Under 21 international in Serie A.
