Fulop hopes for fair chance

Sunderland goalkeeper Marton Fulop hopes to be offered an equal opportunity to remain first choice at the Stadium of Light under Ricky Sbragia.

Fulop replaced £9million man Craig Gordon in the Wear-Tyne derby victory over Newcastle at the end of October after the Scot injured his ankle in training.

Gordon has still to return to action and Fulop, who was regularly on the bench under former boss Roy Keane, goes into Saturday's short trip to Middlesbrough having played 13 of the Black Cats' last 14 games.

And the 25-year-old expects to continue to receive a fair chance to compete for a place in Sunderland's goal under Sbragia, who succeeded Keane in December, when Gordon regains fitness.

"Everyone can start with a clean slate after the change of manager," said Fulop.

"I just hope that I get have a 50-50 chance with Craig to get the jersey.

"Although I feel sorry for Craig being injured, I want to make the most of my chance."
