Defoe wants Harry reunion

Jermain Defoe has admitted he wants to leave Portsmouth to link up with Harry Redknapp again at Tottenham.

Defoe left White Hart Lane after four years at the club just under a year ago to work with Redknapp at Fratton Park in a £7.5million deal.

However, the 26-year-old has conceded that Redknapp's departure to Spurs in October has hit him harder than most.

After intense speculation hinting Defoe was looking to re-join his former club the England international now admits he is keen to hold talks if a fee can be agreed.

"If Portsmouth can agree an acceptable deal with Tottenham I would like the opportunity to talk to them," Defoe told the Sunday Mirror.

"I've enjoyed my time immensely here, but I can't deny that Harry Redknapp's departure as manager hit me hard particularly because he was the reason why I joined Portsmouth in the first place.

"I have a great deal of respect for Tony Adams and what he's trying to achieve. We have a very good working relationship.

"But I left Tottenham to join Portsmouth with the intention of working with Harry for a considerable time to come.

"I could have gone to other clubs when I left Tottenham, but I wanted to work with Harry."
